Can I use more than one h1 tags?

How ranking effected, with h1 tags and without h1 in search engine optimization?
All search engines like Google ,Yahoo , MSN use same algo for this process. Please suggest me.

Many webmaster always use H1 tag at their theme. I think its most important in SEO
